How SafeHold Protects Canadian Deals
Eliminating blind trust on Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji. Here is how our self-service pre-authorization holding mechanism works from start to finish.
Agreement & Deal Creation
Either party creates the hold agreement specifying item description, price ($20 to $250,000 CAD), and delivery terms. For used vehicles, our built-in NHTSA vPIC decoder verifies year, make, and model to catch fraud early.
Buyer Authorizes Payment Hold
The buyer pays via card through Stripe using manual capture. The funds are held on the buyer's card without being charged. If the deal falls through before handover, the hold is simply cancelled—the buyer is never out of pocket.
Physical Handoff & 6-Photo Trail
The parties meet in person or ship the item. At handoff, the buyer uploads up to six photos proving the item matches the seller's listing photos. Both sets of photos form a shared, permanent evidence record.
Dual Confirmation & Seller Payout
Release strictly requires confirmation from both the buyer and the seller. On mutual confirmation, Stripe captures the funds and transfers the item price to the seller's Stripe Connect Express account, retaining SafeHold's low service fee.
Dispute Arbitration (Only If Needed)
If either party flags an issue, the hold freezes. A SafeHold reviewer inspects the listing photos, handoff photos, timeline, and 3-way messaging thread to release to the seller or refund the buyer. Normal deals require zero human intervention.
